Northumberland

Northumberland’s just too big to cover in one CD so there’s a lot we left out:

• the famous Saints who lived there

• magnificent unspoiled countryside and seaside

• entire areas of the county to the North and West

We hardly touched on the history or the fact that the Christian religion moved south from Northumberland to the heathens. We also wanted to do something about how things have changed in our lifetime but couldn’t fit that in either. (We did include a song about the Jarrow Crusade even though Jarrow’s in Durham because we’re as proud of those lads as we are of our own county.) The more we researched, the more we realized how little we really knew and the impossibility of covering everything we wanted to. But there was one thing we always knew - “Be Proud to be a Geordie” - we just didn’t realize how proud we should be.
